Day 3: Charleston to Savannah

Monday morning before we left Charleston we decided to do a carriage tour.  Made it to the parking area without too much trouble, of course I decided to give Karen a brake and give Jake a try, on the GPS. Of course as I'm turing down the street to the parking lot, I'm paying attention to the other cars so I can turn in to the lot without hitting them, both April and Lis scream, I panic thinking I'm going to hit another car, but it's only a bird that decided it wanted to fly along the windshield, kamikaze style.  I didn't see any of this so I'm taking their word for it.  So our we head off on our carriage tour, with the transplant from Maryland giving the tour and our carriage being pulled by Alex and Ingrid, the mules.  Alex hasn't been working lately so she was a little lazy and Ingrid had some intestinal problems.  The whole tour was very good and informative and I was able take pictures of course not always what I wanted since I would get the camera focused and we would start moving again.

After the carriage ride, we walked around the city market, where I bought some photos of iron work, which has inspired me to take more photos of iron work and create some type of way to display them in my apartment.   Then we were off to Savannah, under the guidance of Lee, we gave up on Jack after he got frustrated with us, on the way I decided we should take a detour and head to the beach.  So after consulting the map I found Hunter Island State Park, aka "Jurassic Park", near Parris Island.  It was beautiful driving through the park.   Walking on the beach with my feet in the water was wonderful, it's been a while since I have done that.   Made one small mistake, not thinking I didn't put my shoes back on when walking back to the car and probably burnt a layer of skin off the bottom of my feet.  After that we drove around the park to the lighthouse for a quick picture taking session and then we were off in search of food.  Found a Sonic, so I have officially had my first visit to Sonic and love the cranberry limeade.

After eating lunch we finally made our way to Savannah where we checked into the Oglethorpe Inn & Suites.  I loved the lobby area it is set up to look like an outdoor courtyard with the room doors over looking it.  I'll talk about our first night in Savannah and the Ghost Tour in my next post. Here are a few pictures of the lobby area.
