Holy Sh*t, we're turning 30!!!

A few years ago, during a milestone birthday of her own, my mother mentioned that her mother once said that birthdays over the years were really not too bad, but the big milestones were the tough ones.  Man was that ever the truth.  A few months before turning the dreaded 3-0, in a fit of 1/3 life crisis, I decided that I needed to do something big in celebration of this particular milestone.  I informed my girlfriends that I thought we should go on a fantastic trip of some sort.  But what kind of trip?  A cruise?  A European tour?  And then, all in one evening, discussing various places that we'd always wanted to visit, we dreamt up a marathon road trip through the heart of Dixie.  Perfect! (Of course, its slightly less perfect now with $4/gallon gas than it was several weeks back, but what are you going to do?)

Over the past several weeks, an incredibly stressful work life has had me looking forward to this trip more and more, and has by now, to me, become the ultimate escape from what can best be described as hell on earth.  Needless to say, I'm ready to go!!

Speaking of hell on earth, I'm especially hoping that tomorrow's rapture will not interfere with our plans.  Guess that means I'm definitely not going anywhere, if visiting Charleston is preferable to being raptured ;-)

Cheers to 30!

  1. Lis, Your brother called just to make sure we weren't raptured. We were at mass! Our neighbor Pat suggested laying out clothing and shoes on the driveway as tho you were looking up. I called Matt back to ask if Kate and the cat were still there. Sounded like they were having a party. The rain let up here, hope you had a dry ride.
