A Day at Charleston

We started the morning out good with a nice healthy breakfast. I had Fruit Loops for breakers, which I haven't had in years. It was really yummy.

After breakfast we were off...for all of 5 seconds due to the fact that Morgan had forgotten something for like the 3rd time that morning. We believe she will be winning the prize for the most forgetfulness during this trip.

Morgan drove again...and boy were we sorry as we both got some whip lash due to the fact that she was having trouble recognizing common road signs like a red light and no turn on right. :)

We went first to Magnolia Plantation which I was really excited about. However, I was a little disappointed as the house was not as grand as I was picturing it and the gardens had already been in bloom. The best feature of the plantation was the swamp. We saw gators, birds, turtles, Spanish Moss (I don't care what the tour guide says it's really called, I say SPANISH MOSS), and all sorts of flora and fauna.

We then had to hustle (we were running late, plus had a little side trip due to a wrong turn) to catch the ferry to Fort Sumter. We learned some history about the Civil War that we had not known before. However, we were sitting in front (on the ride to the Fort) and behind (on the ride back to port) this group of girls who I was personally ready to push overboard. Yes, yes, I know that is wrong, but I can't help myself. During our ride back to dock I received a message that my offer on a house had been accepted so not only am I on a great vacation with my bestest friends I passed a huge milestone all in one day.

We then went to dinner in town at a restaurant called the Coast which was fabulous. I got fried shrimp which had a little kick. We then went up a couple store fronts to a somewhat authentic Italian Gelato Shop. We got edible cups of gelato to go. I got a flavor I cannot pronounce nor spell that was basically vanilla with some fudge swirled in it. YUMMY!

We went to the park to enjoy our gelato where we passed time watching two schmucks practice walking on a make-shift tightrope...we have video to prove it. We also mocked them.

We returned to the hotel where we went for a swim in the pool made by "Pee Dee Pools." Before you ask, no, I did not make that up!

Tomorrow we leave for Savannah after taking a carriage tour of Charleston. Hopefully despite our worries about stinky horse butts this will be enjoyable.

  1. Congrats on the house April! You should have celebrated by pushing one of those girls off the boat :) Don't listen to me...I'm a bad influence. P.S. I need to see that video after you gals return
